WELCOME
Another ship coming into the port of Philipsburg, St. Maarten. The island is about 37 square miles and divided into two parts, the French and the Dutch. This is the Dutch portion of the island.
A peaceful morning in the harbor.
EASTERN CARIBBEAN
Just waiting for the ship to finish docking.
Heading out on a fishing excursion. The fishing charter operator provided all of the equipment, bait, refreshments, and knowledge. They would even bait the hook and net the fish for you if you wanted them to. It's a lot of fun and you get to see more of the island's shoreline and take some pictures too.
People waiting for their shore excursions to begin.
St. Maarten has a large pier that can accomodate multiple large ships.
There are sidestreet markets with a variety of gifts. There's also  some nice shade trees blocking the bright sun.
This is a very clean and friendly island with duty free shops everywhere.
Neat mile post. St. Maarten residents are from many countries and are very proud of their island. They are genuinely friendly to visitors.

The Guavaberry rum is very popular.
This picture was taken at the Black Pearl snack bar where they have $2 beers. The Carib beer is great. They also have an excellent musician who plays and sings a variety of songs.
It's about 7:30 am and people are coming off the ship. Visiting a new port is exciting.
